• Due to the high volume of COVID-19 cases in our area, our offices are closed to the public until further notice, however our staff continues to work to meet the needs of our residents. Additionally, the 12/08/2020 Board of Commissioners meeting has been changed to 12/15/2020 at 10:00 a.m. We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of our Commissioners, staff, and public. In compliancy with the 3/18/2020 and 4/12/2020 Proclamations issued by Governor Ivey regarding public meetings, minutes of Board meetings will be posted to our website within 12 hours of the close of the meeting.

The Mission of the Alexander City Housing Authority is to provide the necessary number of affordable, decent, safe, and sanitary dwelling units within its jurisdiction; to administer, professionally and accurately, the programs authorized by the Board of Commissioners and Congress; and to professionally maintain the property that has been developed throughout its intended useful life.

Housing Choice Voucher ( Section 8 ) Landlords  

On July 1, 2014 the Alexander City Housing Authority will start taking applications for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. Applications may be picked up at the Alexander City Housing Authority Office at 2110 County Road, Alexander City, Alabama or may be downloaded from this website.

How to get Housing
Beginning June 2, 2015 - Applications will be taken for the location of   Laurel Heights and Jefferson Heights for apartment sizes of a 1 bedroom through 5 bedroom apartments. Applications will be accepted Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am to 3 pm at the Alexander City Housing Authority Office located at 2110 County Road, Alexander City, Al 35010. The Office will close daily for lunch from 12 noon to 1 pm.  Please call the Office at 256-329-2201 to set up an appointment.

  Welcome to the Alexander City Housing Authority website! We hope our site will be informative to you, as well as interesting and easy to navigate. As you can see on the home page we have provided an overview of the links provided on the site. We feel we have covered the most important areas of operation and provided other opportunities to work with us and participate in all our programs. However, if you are looking for something in particular and do not find it on our site, please call 256/329-2201 and let us know.

If you are a business or prospective resident, please note the links to the left where you can submit bids for equipment or services we may need or download an application for housing in either of our programs. Also, for our current residents we have a calendar link on this page which lists activities planned for every age group in the next quarter. Press releases and other public relations information will be published periodically along with messages from myself and other staff members.

The Alexander City Housing Authority is proud

to announce that they are a HOST Site for the

Alexander City schools brown bag lunch program.

The lunches may be picked up at the Laurel Heights Youth

and Adult Center and the Springhill Youth and Adult Center

between the hours of 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday.


All offices, Community Centers, Youth and Adult Centers

and Maintenance Shop are closed until further notice.

Please call 256-234-5340 for any Maintenance

Emergencies and for any deliveries.

The Alexander City Housing Authority is closing

the Public Housing and Section 8 waiting lists effective


This is in response to the COVID-19 virus and the waiting lists

will remain closed until further notice.


The Alexander City Housing Authority will be closed to the

public until further notice effective immediately.

All business will be handled via phone, email,

front office drop box and the tenant porch mailboxes.

All meetings, events, gatherings of any kind

are cancelled No groups are allowed to meet at

Adams Court, Gunter Circle or office

conference rooms.

The YAS -Youth and Adult Centers- will close

effective Wednesday, March 18th until further notice

The Maintenance Mechanics will Only complete

emergency, critical or essential work orders

for indoor work Be prepared to answer a list of

questions when calling in work orders

The Maintenance Shop is closed to the public.
